     Lt.-Col. Samuel Brian Digby Hood was born on 1 June 1910.³ He was the son of Alexander Frank Hood and Gladys Ursula Youell.⁴ He married Myrtle Baron, daughter of Sir Louis Bernard Baron, 1st Bt., on 8 April 1937.³ He died on 15 September 1988 at age 78 at Stow on the Wold, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.^3,2
     He fought in the Second World War, and was mentioned in despatches twice.³ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Middlesex Yeomanry.³ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)³
