     Clara Hertz was born in 1837 at London, England.2 She was the daughter of Bram Hertz and Amalia (?)3 She married Robert William Thomson at Java, Indonesia.1 She married, secondly, John Fletcher Moulton, Baron Moulton, son of Reverend James Egan Moulton, on 24 April 1875 at St. George's Hanover Square, London, England.4,2 She died on 13 July 1888 at Kensington, London, England.4,2
     Her married name became Thomson.1 From 24 April 1875, her married name became Moulton.4

     George Loyd Courthope, 1st and last Baron Courthope was born in 1877.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. George John Courthope and Elinor Sarah Loyd.1 He married, firstly, Hilda Gertrude Close, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Henry Pelham Close, on 14 June 1899.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Barry, daughter of Frederick Barry, on 5 September 1944.1 He died on 2 September 1955.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Sussex, Rye Division between 1906 and 1945.1 He became a Master of the Company of Farmers.1 He was Colonel of the 5th Battalion, Royal Susses Regiment (Territorial Army.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was created 1st Baronet Courthope, of Whiligh, co. Sussex [U.K.] in 1925.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1937.1 He was created 1st Baron Courthope, of Whiligh, co. Sussex [U.K.] on 3 July 1945.1 He lived at Whiligh, Sussex, EnglandG.1
