     Lt.-Cdr. John W. Pugh was the son of Commander H. J. M. Pugh.1 He married Emily Wilbraham Stopford, daughter of Vice-Admiral Frederick George Stopford and Maria Mary Bigg, on 6 July 1915.1 He died in 1933.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.1 In 1923 his name was legally changed to John W. Stopford by Deed Poll.1
