     Sir Hubert de la Poer Gough was born in 1870 at Gurteen Kilsheelan, County Waterford, Ireland^G.¹ He was the son of General Sir Charles John Stanley Gough, V.C. and Harriet Anastasia de la Poer.¹ He married Louisa Nora Lewis, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Henry Colebrook Lewis, on 22 December 1898.² He died on 18 March 1963.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.² He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.² He fought in the Boer War between 1892 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches and was severely wounded.¹ He fought in the Tirah Expedition between 1897 and 1898.² He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1912.² He fought in the First World War, where he led a division at Ypres and Loos, and a corps at the Somme.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1916.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1917.² He was awarded the Order of the Crown and Sword of Sweden.¹ He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Belgian.¹ He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.¹ He was awarded the Grand Officer, Order of Leopold of Belgium.¹ He was awarded the Grand Officer, Order of the White Eagle of Russia with swords.¹ He was awarded the Order of Charles III of Spain.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1919.² He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1937.²

     Dorothea Agnes Keyes was born on 18 July 1874 at Murree, Bengal, India.² She was the daughter of General Sir Charles Patton Keyes and Katherine Jessie Norman.³ She was baptised on 26 September 1874 at India.² She married Brig.-Gen. John Edmund Gough, V.C., son of General Sir Charles John Stanley Gough, V.C. and Harriet Anastasia de la Poer, on 29 June 1907.¹ She died on 2 April 1962 at age 87.¹
     From 29 June 1907, her married name became Gough.⁴

     General Sir Charles Patton Keyes was born on 25 November 1822.² He was the son of Thomas Keyes and Mary Anne Patton.² He married Katherine Jessie Norman, daughter of Sir James Norman, on 12 January 1870.² He died on 5 February 1896 at age 73.¹
