John Roby Benson, 2nd Baron Charnwood was born on 31 August 1901 at Lodsworth, Sussex, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Godfrey Rathbone Benson, 1st Baron Charnwood and Dorothea Mary Roby Thorpe.1 He was baptised at St. Mary's Chrch, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He married Beryl Joan Quilter, daughter of Percy Cuthbert Quilter and Gladys Clare Alice Tudway, on 19 July 1933.1 He died on 1 February 1955 at age 53, without issue.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of Major in the 105 Field Brigade, Royal Artillery (Territorial Army.)3 He fought in the Second World War.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Charnwood, of Castle Donington, co. Leicester [U.K., 1911] on 3 February 1945.2 He was appointed Fellow, British Optical Association (F.B.O.A.)3 He became a Liveryman of the Spectacle Makers' Company.3 He was a consulting optician.3
On his death, his titles became extinct.2

Sir Robert Chaplin, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir Francis Chaplin and Anne Hewett.1 He married Ann Harrington on 2 March 1696.1,2 He died on 1 July 1728, without male issue.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered to to his daughter Anne on 8 February 1728/29.1
He was admitted to Gray's Inn on 3 August 1675.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Grimsby between 1715 and 1721. He was expelled from Parliament after the collapse of the South Seas Company.1 He was created 1st Baronet Chaplin, of the Inner Temple, London [Great Britain] on 19 September 1715, with a special remainder to his nephew, Porter Chaplin.1 He was a director of the South Seas Company before 1720.1
