     Ferdinando Fairfax, 2nd Lord Fairfax of Cameron was born on 29 March 1584.1 He was the son of Thomas Fairfax, 1st Lord Fairfax of Cameron and Ellen Aske.3,1 He married, firstly, Lady Mary Sheffield, daughter of Edmund Sheffield, 1st Earl of Mulgrave, in 1607.1 He married, secondly, Rhoda Chapman, daughter of Thomas Chapman, on 16 October 1646.1 He died on 14 March 1647/48 at age 63.1
     He was appointed Knight in January 1607/8.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Boroughbridge in 1614.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Boroughbridge between 1620 and 1622.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Boroughbridge between 1624 and 1626.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Boroughbridge from 1628 to 1629.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Boroughbridge in 1640.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Yorkshire between 1640 and 1648.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Fairfax of Cameron [S., 1627] on 2 May 1640.1 He fought in the Battle of Marston Moor in 1644.1 He gained the rank of General in the Parliamentary Forces.1 He held the office of Governor of York between 1644 and 1648.1
