     Elizabeth Meverell was the daughter of Robert Meverell and Elizabeth Fleming.¹ She married Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl of Ardglass, son of Edward Cromwell, 3rd Baron Cromwell and Frances Rugge.¹ She died in 1653.² She was buried at Tickencote, Rutland, England^G.²
     Her married name became Cromwell.¹ After her marriage, Elizabeth Meverell was styled as Countess of Ardglass on 15 April 1645.

     Sir Thomas Fleming was born in April 1544 at Newport, Isle of Wight, England.² He was the son of John Fleming and Dorothy Harris.² He married Mary James, daughter of Dr. Mark James, on 13 February 1570 at St. Thomas' Church, Newport, Isle of Wight, England.² He died on 7 August 1613 at age 69 at Stoneham Park, Hampshire, England.²
     He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1574 entitled to practise as a barirster-at-law.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kingston upon Hull between 1581 and 1584.² He partipicated in an ordinance between 1584 and 1597; Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wincheser.² He held the office of Recorder of London in 1594.² He held the office of Solicitor-General in 1595.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hampshire between 1597 and 1601.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Southampton in 1601.² He was appointed Knight on 23 July 1603.² He held the office of Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer between 1604 and 1607.² He held the office of Lord Chief Justice of England in 1607.^1,2

     Wingfield Cromwell, 2nd Earl of Ardglass was born on 12 September 1624 at Throwleigh, Staffordshire, England^G.¹ He was the son of Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl of Ardglass and Elizabeth Meverell.¹ He married Mary Russell, daughter of Sir William Russell, 1st Bt. and Frances Reade.¹ He died on 3 October 1668 at age 44.¹ He was buried at Ilam, Staffordshire, England^G.¹
     He was educated at Stone School, Staffordshire, England^G.¹ He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, on 20 March 1637/38.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Laws (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1642.¹ In April 1649 he was taken prisoner in the Royalist cause. He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Ardglass [I., 1645] in 1653.¹ He gained the title of 5th Baron Cromwell in 1653.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Lecale, in Ulster [I., 1624] in 1653.¹

     Mary Russell was born before 1634.¹ She was the daughter of Sir William Russell, 1st Bt. and Frances Reade.¹ She married, firstly, Wingfield Cromwell, 2nd Earl of Ardglass, son of Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl of Ardglass and Elizabeth Meverell.¹ She married, secondly, Charles Cotton, son of Charles Cotton and Olive Stanhope, between 1670 and 1675.¹ She died after 12 September 1687.¹
     Her married name became Cromwell.¹ After her marriage, Mary Russell was styled as Countess of Ardglass in 1653. From between 1670 and 1675, her married name became Cotton.¹

     Sir William Russell, 1st Bt. was born circa 1602. He married Frances Reade, daughter of Sir Thomas Reade and Mary Brocket, on 1 December 1624.² He died on 30 November 1669.²
     He was created Baronet Russell, of Strensham, co. Worcester on 12 March 1626/27.¹

     Frances Reade is the daughter of Sir Thomas Reade and Mary Brocket.^1,2 She married Sir William Russell, 1st Bt. on 1 December 1624.³
     From 1 December 1624, her married name became Russell.³

     Sir Thomas Reade was born in 1575.² He was the son of Thomas Reade and Mary Stonhouse.³ He married Mary Brocket, daughter of Sir John Brocket and Helen Lytton, in March 1597/98.² He died circa 17 December 1620.² He was buried on 20 December 1650.²

     Charles Cotton was born on 28 April 1630.¹ He was the son of Charles Cotton and Olive Stanhope. He married, firstly, Isabella Hutchinson on 30 June 1656 at St. Mary's, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England^G.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Russell, daughter of Sir William Russell, 1st Bt. and Frances Reade, between 1670 and 1675.¹ He died circa February 1686/87. He died intestate and his estate was administered to granted to a creditor on 12 September 1687.¹ He was buried on 16 February 1686/87 at St. James's, Westminster, London, England^G.¹
