Sir Nicholas Browne, 4th Bt. was the son of Rt. Hon. Col. Sir Valentine Browne, 3rd Bt. and Jane Plunkett.1 He married Helen Browne, daughter of Captain Thomas Browne and Elizabeth Browne, in 1684.1 He died on 26 April 1720 at Ghent, Belgium.1,2
He held the office of Sheriff of County Cork in 1687.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kerry [Ireland] in 1689.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Regiment of Foot, for King James II.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Castlerosse [I., 1689] in 1694, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Browne, of Mohaliffe, co. Kerry [I., 1622] in 1694.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Kenmare [I., 1689] in 1694, de jure.1 He was attainted, along with his father, and their estates forfeited.1

Helen Browne was the daughter of Captain Thomas Browne and Elizabeth Browne.1 She married Sir Nicholas Browne, 4th Bt., son of Rt. Hon. Col. Sir Valentine Browne, 3rd Bt. and Jane Plunkett, in 1684.1 She died circa July 1700.1 She was buried on 16 July 1700 at St. James' Church, Westminster, London, EnglandG.1 She died intestate and her estate was administered on 22 July 1700.1
