     Sir Herbert Samuel Leon, 1st Bt. was born on 11 February 1850.¹ He was the son of George Isaac Leon and Julia Ann Samuel.¹ He married, firstly, Esther Julia Beddington, daughter of Edward Henry Beddington and Julia Moses, on 4 June 1873. He married, secondly, Fanny Hyman, daughter of David Hyman, on 4 August 1880.¹ He died on 23 July 1926 at age 76.¹
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Buckinghamshire.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Buckinghamshire between 1891 and 1895.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire in 1909.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Leon, of Bletchley Park, Bletchley, co. Buckingham [U.K.] on 5 July 1911.¹
