Maj.-Gen. Hardis Secondus Lalande Ravenshaw was born in 1869.1 He was the son of John Hurdis Ravenshaw and Harriet Lalande Biggs.1 He married Rose Thuilliell, daughter of Colonel Sir Henry Ravenshaw Thuilliell.1 He died on 6 June 1920, without issue.1
He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the G.O.C. forces in South Africa.1 He fought in the Boer War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1914 in the 1st Battalion, Connaught Rangers.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1915.1
