Alfred Elijah Slusher was born on 18 August 1842 at Moorefield, West Virginia, U.S.A.G.2 He was the son of Alfred Slusher and Nancy Skidmore.2 He married Eliza Jane Kellogg, daughter of Isaac Kellogg and Elizabeth Jane Wood, on 25 August 1867 at Robinson, Crawford County, Illinois, U.S.A.G.2 He died on 10 September 1894 at age 52 at Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, U.S.A.G, from an overdose.3
He gained the rank of Private in December 1863 in the E Company, Illinois 51st Volunteer Infantry.3 He fought in the American Civil War, and was caputred by the Confederates and held at Andersonville Prison for the last 5 months of the war.3
