Sir William Bowyer-Smijth, 12th Bt. was born on 1 September 1840.1 He was the son of Sir William Bowyer-Smijth, 11th Bt. and Marianne Frances Meux.1 He was baptised on 21 September 1840 at 13 Lower Grosvenor Street, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 22 July 1916 at age 75, unmarried.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was in the Diplomatic Service in 1858.1 He held the office of Third Secretary in 1863.1 He held the office of Second Secretary to Constantinople between 1874 and 1881.1 He held the office of Secretary of Legation to Yeddo between 1881 and 1883.1 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Smith, of Hill Hall, co. Essex [E., 1661] on 20 November 1883.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Essex in 1889.1

Sir Philip Weyland Bowyer-Smyth, 14th Bt. was born on 4 February 1894.1 He was the son of Clement Weyland Bowyer-Smijth and Edith Maude Gray.1,2 He married, firstly, Margaret Joan McCowan, daughter of Samuel McCall McCowan, on 24 June 1922.1 He and Margaret Joan McCowan were divorced in 1951.1 He married, secondly, Veronica Mary Bower, daughter of Captain Cyril Whichelo Bower, on 9 June 1951. He died on 29 November 1978 at age 84 at London, England.1,3
