     Basil David Postan was born on 9 June 1946.¹ He is the son of Sir Michael Moissey Postan and Lady Cynthia Rosalie Keppel.¹ He married Maria Carr, daughter of Samuel Carr, on 29 June 1968.¹
     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ He was educated at Strasbourg University, Strasbourg, France^G.¹ He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹

     Alexander Henry Keppel Postan was born on 25 August 1948.¹ He is the son of Sir Michael Moissey Postan and Lady Cynthia Rosalie Keppel.¹ He married Jane Dillon, daughter of Dr. J. Dillon, in 1991.¹
     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England^G.¹

     Maria Carr is the daughter of Samuel Carr.¹ She married Basil David Postan, son of Sir Michael Moissey Postan and Lady Cynthia Rosalie Keppel, on 29 June 1968.¹
     Her married name became Postan.

     Major Sir Hew Fleetwood Hamilton-Dalrymple, 10th Bt. was born on 9 April 1926.² He was the son of Sir Hew Clifford Hamilton-Dalrymple of North Berwick, 9th Bt. and Ann Dorothea Dyce Nicol Thorne.³ He married Lady Anne-Louise Mary Keppel, daughter of Walter Egerton George Lucian Keppel, 9th Earl of Albemarle and Diana Cicely Grove, on 25 September 1954.¹ He died on 26 December 2018 at age 92.⁴
     He was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, England^G.² He was commissioned in 1944 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Grenadier Guards.² He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Dalrymple, of North Berwick, co. Haddington [N.S., 1698] on 12 March 1959.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of East Lothian between 1964 and 1973.² He was director of Scottish and Newcastle Breweries Ltd between 1967 and 1986.² He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 7 June 1968.² He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of East Lothian between 1973 and 1987.² He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1974.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1987.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of East Lothian between 1987 and 2001.² He held the office of Captain-General of the Royal Company of Archers in 1996.² He held the office of Gold Stick of Scotland in 1996.² He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 2001.² He lived in 2003 at Leuchie, North Berwickshire, Scotland^G.²

     Arnold Joost van Keppel, 1st Earl of Albemarle was born in 1670. He was the son of Osewolt van Keppel and Reinira Anna Gertruyde van Lintello tot de Mars.² He married Gertrude de Quirna van der Duyn, daughter of Adam van der Duyn, on 26 June 1701 [15 June 1701 O.S.].³ He died on 30 May 1718 [19 May 1718 O.S.] at The Hague, The Netherlands^G.³ He was buried at The Hague, The Netherlands^G.³ His will was proven (by probate) on 13 July 1721.³
     He gained the title of Baron van Keppel.² He held the office of Page of Honour to the Prince of Orange in 1688, later King William III.⁴ He held the office of Groom of the Bedchamber to King William III between 1691 and 1695.⁴ He was appointed Knight of Zutphen in 1692.⁴ He gained the title of Herr van der Voorst, in Guelderland in 1692.^2,5 He was appointed Knight of Holland and West Friesland after 1692.⁴ He held the office of Master of the Robes between 1695 and 1697.⁴ King William awarded him (among other personal friends) 108,634 acres of confiscated land in Ireland, even though he was a lad barely of age who had not rendered his adopted country any service. This grant was not upheld by Parliament.⁴ He gained the rank of Major General in 1697.⁴ He was created 1st Earl of Albemarle [England] on 10 February 1696/97.⁴ He was created 1st Baron Ashford, of Ashford, Kent [England] on 10 February 1696/97.⁴ He was created 1st Viscount Bury, co. Lancaster [England] on 10 February 1696/97.⁴ He gained the rank of Colonel in 1698 in the 1st troop of Horse Guards.⁴ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) on 5 June 1700.³ In 1702 he retired to Holland, and took his seat among the Nobles of the States General.³ On 8 March 1701/2 King William III held the Earl in the highest esteem, and bequeathed him, in a codicil annexed to his last will and testament, the Lordship of Breevost, and 200,000 guilders, the only legacy the King gave from the Prince of Nassau-Friezland, whom he had made his heir. He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) by Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, on 16 April 1705.³ He fought in the Battle of Ramilles in 1706, where he commanded the Dutch forces.³ He fought in the Battle of Oudenarde in 1708, where he commanded the Dutch forces.³ He fought in the Battle of Denain on 13 July 1712, where he was defeated while fighting for the Imperialists, being taken prisoner by the French.³ His last will was dated 29 May 1718.
     Macaulay describes him as having "a sweet and obliging temper, winning manners and a quick, though not a profound understanding. Courage, loyalty, and secrecy, were common between him and Portland."⁴ J. Drummond writes on 9 December 1710, "he is grown the gentleman of most applications in the service, the most affable and obliging in his behaviour, the best husband and the most regular man in his living that is in the States dominions; only continues pretty expensive in his equipage and housekeeping."³

     Gertrude de Quirna van der Duyn was the daughter of Adam van der Duyn.¹ She married Arnold Joost van Keppel, 1st Earl of Albemarle, son of Osewolt van Keppel and Reinira Anna Gertruyde van Lintello tot de Mars, on 26 June 1701 [15 June 1701 O.S.].¹ She died in December 1741.¹ She died intestate and her estate was administered on 5 June 1742.¹
     After her marriage, Gertrude de Quirna van der Duyn was styled as Countess of Albemarle on 26 June 1701. From 26 June 1701, her married name became van Keppel.¹

     Hon. Charlotte Elizabeth Eleanor Fraser was born circa 1851 at Plymouth, Devon, England^G.² She was the daughter of Alexander Fraser, 18th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy and Charlotte Evans.^1,3 She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. William Henry Augustus Keppel, son of Reverend William Arnold Walpole Keppel and Frances Georgiana Sophia Marsham, on 10 July 1873 at Lexham Hall, East Lexham, Norfolk, England^G.¹ She married, secondly, Admiral Sir Henry Frederick Stephenson, son of Henry Frederick Stephenson and Lady Mary Keppel, on 5 December 1903.¹ She died on 25 February 1923.³
     From 10 July 1873, her married name became Keppel. From 5 December 1903, her married name became Stephenson.

     Admiral Sir Henry Frederick Stephenson was born on 7 June 1842.² He was the son of Henry Frederick Stephenson and Lady Mary Keppel.² He married Hon. Charlotte Elizabeth Eleanor Fraser, daughter of Alexander Fraser, 18th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy and Charlotte Evans, on 5 December 1903.¹ He died on 16 December 1919 at age 77.¹
     He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Navy.² He was an Arctic explorer.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.)¹

     Alexander Fraser, 18th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy was born on 5 May 1820.¹ He was the son of Hon. William Fraser and Elizabeth Graham Macdowall.² He married Charlotte Evans, daughter of Thomas Browne Evans and Charlotte Simeon, on 25 April 1849.¹ He died on 1 February 1886 at age 65.¹
     He gained the rank of Ensign in 1837 in the 96th Foot.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1845 in the 28th Foot.¹ He gained the rank of Major in 1852.¹ He succeeded as the 18th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy [S., 1445] on 18 August 1853.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1854 and 1855 in the Aberdeenshire Militia.¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the Royal Company of Archers.¹ He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1859 and 1886.¹

     Frederick George Keppel was born on 5 May 1878.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Edward George Keppel and Mary Cecilia Georgiana King.¹ He died on 8 January 1949 at age 70, unmarried.¹
     He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Norfolk Regiment.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹
