     Margaret Taubman was born in 1750 at The Bowling Green, Castletown, Isle of ManG.1 She was the daughter of John Taubman and Esther Christian.1 She married John Christian Curwen, son of John Christian and Jane Curwen, on 10 September 1775 at Kirk Maughold, Isle of ManG.1 She died on 1 February 1778 at Peel, Isle of ManG.1 She was buried in 1778 at Kirk Malew, Isle of ManG.1
     From 10 September 1775, her married name became Christian.2

     Sir Arthur Bassett was born in 1541.2 He was the son of John Basset and Frances Plantagenet.2 He married Eleanor Chichester, daughter of Sir John Chichester and Gertrude Courtenay.1 He died in 1586.2

     Deemster John Christian was born on 12 July 1776 at The Bowling Green, Castletown, Isle of ManG.1 He was the son of John Christian Curwen and Margaret Taubman.1 He married Susanna Allen, daughter of Lewis Robert Allen and Susanna Bell, on 23 April 1807.1 He died on 27 February 1852 at age 75 at Milntown, Lezayre, Isle of ManG.1 He was buried on 5 March 1852 at Kirk Lezayre, Isle of ManG.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.2 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1798 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn on 23 January 1798.1 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1801 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was registered as a Barrister-at-Law in 1803.1 He held the office of Member of the House of Keys (M.H.K.)2 He held the office of Deemster between 2 June 1822 and 1852.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Somerset.1 From his marriage in 1807 until 1822 he lived at Ewanrigg Hall, Cumberland, and then, on his appointment as Deemster, moved to Fort Anne, Douglas, Isle of Man. In 1830, having had the ancient ancestral home, Milntown, restored, he moved to it with his family, the first Christian to have lived there for a century and a half.1
