Margaret Hay was born circa 1592.³ She was the daughter of James Hay, 7th Lord Hay of Yester and Lady Margaret Kerr.¹ She married by contract, firstly, Alexander Seton, 1st Earl of Dunfermline, son of George Seton, 5th Lord Seton and Isabel Hamilton, on 15 November 1607.^1,4 She married, secondly, James Livingston, 1st Earl of Callendar, son of Alexander Livingstone, 1st Earl of Linlithgow and Lady Helen Hay, circa 1633.¹ She died on 30 December 1659.¹ She was buried on 20 January 1659/60 at Dalgety, Fife, Scotland^G.⁵
     After her marriage, Hon. Margaret Hay was styled as Countess of Dunfermline on 15 November 1607. From 15 November 1607, her married name became Seton.¹ After her marriage, Hon. Margaret Hay was styled as Baroness Livingston of Almond in 1633. From 1633, her married name became Livingston.¹ After her marriage, Hon. Margaret Hay was styled as Countess of Callendar on 6 October 1641.

     James Livingston, 1st Earl of Callendar was the son of Alexander Livingstone, 1st Earl of Linlithgow and Lady Helen Hay.² He married Hon. Margaret Hay, daughter of James Hay, 7th Lord Hay of Yester and Lady Margaret Kerr, circa 1633.¹ He died circa March 1674 at Callendar House, Scotland^G, without issue.¹ He was buried on 25 March 1674 at Falkirk, Scotland^G.³
     He was appointed Knight before 1629.² He served in wars in Bohemia, Germany, Holland and Sweden.² He held the office of Gentleman of the Bedchamber to King Charles I.² He was created 1st Lord Livingston of Almond [Scotland] on 19 June 1633.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1640 in the Scottish Army.² He was created 1st Earl of Callendar, Lord Livingston and Almond [Scotland] on 6 October 1641.² He held the office of Sheriff of Stirling in 1647.² On 28 July 1647 he obtained a power to nominate his successors to his earldom.² He fought in the Battle of Preston on 17 August 1648, where he was routed, and so fled to Holland.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] on 13 February 1660/61.³
     Wishart wrote that he was "a nobleman who, between war and politics, was much put to it in steering a course for himself, but on the whole succeeded."³

     Hon. Sir Alexander Nelson Hood was born on 28 June 1854.¹ He was the son of General Alexander Hood, 1st Viscount Bridport of Cricket St. Thomas and Lady Mary Penelope Hill.¹ He died on 1 June 1937 at age 82, unmarried.¹

     Hon. Alfred Nelson Hood was born on 1 October 1858.¹ He was the son of General Alexander Hood, 1st Viscount Bridport of Cricket St. Thomas and Lady Mary Penelope Hill.¹ He married Ada Louisa Gavegan, daughter of Lt.-Col. Francis Charles Gavegan, on 29 September 1910.¹ He died on 1 December 1918 at age 60, without issue.¹

     Ada Louisa Gavegan was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Francis Charles Gavegan.¹ She married Hon. Alfred Nelson Hood, son of General Alexander Hood, 1st Viscount Bridport of Cricket St. Thomas and Lady Mary Penelope Hill, on 29 September 1910.¹ She died on 13 October 1959.¹
     From 29 September 1910, her married name became Hood.¹

     Lt.-Col. Francis Charles Gavegan gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Berkshire Regiment.¹

     Hon. Victor Albert Nelson Hood was born on 14 November 1862.¹ He was the son of General Alexander Hood, 1st Viscount Bridport of Cricket St. Thomas and Lady Mary Penelope Hill.¹ He married Violet Annie (?) on 3 July 1928.¹ He died on 1 May 1929 at age 66, without issue.¹
     He was Private Secretary to the Governor of South Australia between 1903 and 1905.¹ He was Private Secretary to the Governor of Victoria between 1906 and 1920.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Victoria.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Queensland.¹ He was Chamberlain to the Governor-General of Australia in 1911.¹ He was Private Secretary to the Governor of Western Australia between 1912 and 1913.¹ He was Private Secretary to the Governor of New South Wales in 1913.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1916.¹
