Maj.-Gen. Dixon Edward Hoste was born in 1827 at Norwich, Norfolk, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Colonel Sir George Charles Hoste and Mary Burroughes.2 He married, firstly, Jane Mary Burroughes, daughter of Reverend Jeremiah Burroughes and Pleasance Preston, on 29 December 1853 at South Burlingham, Norfolk, England.3,4 He married, secondly, Mary Scott in 1857 at Henstead, Norfolk, EnglandG.2 He died in 1905.2
He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Artillery.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
