Sir Thomas Tassell Grant was born in 1795 at Portsea, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Thomas Grant and Ann Tassell.1 He married Emma (?)1 He died on 15 October 1859 at Chester Terrace, London, EnglandG.1
He was Storekeeper of Clarence Victalling Yard in 1828 at Gosport, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 In 1829 he invented a steam machine for making biscuits, for which he received a Parliamentary grant of £2000.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 In 1849 he invented a machine for distilling drinking water from sea water.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1 He was Controller of the Victualling and Transport Services between 1850 and 1858.1
