Sir Rowland John Rathbone Whitehead, 5th Bt. was born on 24 June 1930.2 He was the son of Sir Philip Henry Rathbone Whitehead, 4th Bt. and Gertrude Palmer.3 He married Marie-Louise Gausel, daughter of Arnold Christian Gausel and Martha Eleanor Olsen, on 3 April 1954.2 He died on 28 July 2007 at age 77.4
He was educated at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery.2 He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Whitehead, of Catford, Kent [U.K., 1889] on 31 December 1953.3 He was chairman of the Standing Council of the Baronetage between 1984 and 1987.2 He was the Governor at Appleby Grammar School, Appleby, Westmorland, EnglandG.2 He lived in 2003 at Walnut Tree Cottage, Fyfield, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.2
