     He gained the rank of Ensign in the Argyll's Foot.1

     Major Duncan Campbell, 9th of Inverawe was the son of Archibald Campbell, 8th of Inverawe and Janet Maclean.1 He married Jean Campbell, daughter of Colonel Alexander Campbell of Finab, on 20 March 1732.1 He died on 8 July 1758 at Ticonderoga, Essex County, New York, U.S.A.G, from wounds received.1
     He fought in the American War of Independence.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Back Watch.1
