     Lt.-Gen. Peter Campbell, 1st of South Hall was the son of Archibald Campbell and Barbara McAlister.1 He died on 18 February 1751/52, without issue.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Portsmouth.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Horse Guards, Dutch Army.1 He built South Hall.1

     James Campbell was the son of Alexander Campbell and Mary Cameron.1 He married, firstly, Jane Cameron, daughter of unknown Cameron.1 He married, secondly, Jane Dundas, daughter of Ralph Dundas of Manour and Helen Burnett.1 He died in 1745 at Fontenoy, Belgium, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 12th Regiment.1 He fought in the Battle of Fontenoy in 1745.1
