Sir Frank Samuel Alexander, 1st Bt. was born on 17 June 1881.1 He was the son of Edward Alexander and Cora Zwicker.1 He married Elsa Mary Collett, daughter of Sir Charles Henry Collett, 1st Bt. and Lilian Louisa Ionn, on 16 February 1922.1 He died on 18 July 1959 at age 78.1
He was educated at Highgate School, Highgate, London, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 72nd Heavy Artillery Brigade.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He held the office of Alderman of the City of London in 1938.1 He was chairman of the Baltic Exchange between 1939 and 1946.1 He was chairman of Alexander Shipping.1 He held the office of Sheriff of the City of London between 1940 and 1941.1 He was appointed Knight in 1942.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London between 1944 and 1945.1 He was created 1st Baronet Alexander, of Sundridge Park, Kent [U.K.] on 19 November 1945.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the City of London.1
