Charles Lawrence Dundas was born on 18 July 1771.1 He was the son of Thomas Dundas, 1st Baron Dundas of Aske and Lady Charlotte FitzWilliam.1 He married Lady Caroline Beauclerk, daughter of Aubrey Beauclerk, 5th Duke of Saint Albans and Lady Catherine Ponsonby, on 16 February 1797.1 He died on 25 January 1810 at age 38.1

He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Richmond between 1763 and 1768.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1768.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Stirlingshire between 1768 and 1794.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Dundas, of Kerse, co. Stirling [G.B., 1762] on 21 September 1781.1 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) in 1784.1 He held the office of Councillor of State to HRH The Prince of Wales.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant and Vice-Admiral of Orkney and Shetland between 1794 and 1820.1 He was created 1st Baron Dundas of Aske, co.
