He was created 1st Herzog von Teschen on 12 May 1722.4 He succeeded as the Duc François III de Bar on 27 March 1729.4 He succeeded as the Duc François III de Lorraine on 27 March 1729.6,4 He gained the title of Viceroy of Hungary in 1732.4 He resigned as Duke of Lorraine and Bar on 11 April 1736.4 He gained the title of Granduca di Toscana in 1737.6 After his marriage, Franz I Stefan de Lorraine, Holy Roman Emperor was styled as Erzherzog von Österreich in 1740.7 He succeeded as the Emperor Francis I of the Holy Roman Empire on 13 September 1745.6,4 He was crowned Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire on 4 October 1745 at Frankfurt-am-Main, Hessen, GermanyG.4
