     Lady Mary Lowther was born on 2 November 1781.2 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. William Lowther, 1st Earl of Lonsdale and Lady Augusta Fane.1,3 She married Maj.-Gen. Lord Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck, son of William Henry Cavendish-Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland and Lady Dorothy Cavendish, on 16 September 1820.1 She died on 21 October 1862 at age 80 at 74 Pulteneny Street, Bath, Somerset, England.1,2
     Her married name became Cavendish-Bentinck.

     William Bentinck, 2nd Duke of Portland was born on 1 March 1708/9.1 He was the son of Capt.-Gen. Henry Bentinck, 1st Duke of Portland and Lady Elizabeth Noel.1 He married Lady Margaret Cavendish Harley, daughter of Edward Harley, 2nd Earl of Oxford and Lady Henrietta Cavendish Holles, on 11 July 1734.1 He died on 1 May 1762 at age 53.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron of Cirencester, co.      Lady Margaret Cavendish Harley was born on 11 February 1714/15.3,4 She was the daughter of Edward Harley, 2nd Earl of Oxford and Lady Henrietta Cavendish Holles.1,5 She married William Bentinck, 2nd Duke of Portland, son of Capt.-Gen. Henry Bentinck, 1st Duke of Portland and Lady Elizabeth Noel, on 11 July 1734.4 She died on 17 July 1785 at age 70.4
     From 11 July 1734, her married name became Bentinck. After her marriage, Lady Margaret Cavendish Harley was styled as Duchess of Portland on 11 July 1734.
     She was celebrated by Prior as 'My noble, lovely little Peggy.4'

Henry Bentinck, 1st Duke of Portland was born on 17 March 1682.1 He was the son of Hans William Bentinck, 1st Earl of Portland and Anne Villiers.1 He married Lady Elizabeth Noel, daughter of Wriothesley Baptist Noel, 2nd Earl of Gainsborough and Hon. Catherine Greville, on 9 June 1704.3 He died on 4 July 1726 at age 44 at JamaicaG.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Southampton between 1705 and 1708.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)      Lady Elizabeth Noel was born circa 1688.3 She was the daughter of Wriothesley Baptist Noel, 2nd Earl of Gainsborough and Hon. Catherine Greville.1 She married Capt.-Gen. Henry Bentinck, 1st Duke of Portland, son of Hans William Bentinck, 1st Earl of Portland and Anne Villiers, on 9 June 1704.1 She died on 19 March 1737.1
     Her married name became Bentinck. After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Noel was styled as Countess of Portland on 23 November 1709. After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Noel was styled as Duchess of Portland on 6 July 1716.

     Hans William Bentinck, 1st Earl of Portland was born on 20 July 1649 at Diepenheim, The NetherlandsG.3,4 He was the son of Bernard Bentinck, Baron Bentinck and Anne van Bloemendale. He married, firstly, Anne Villiers, daughter of Sir Edward Villiers and Lady Frances Howard, on 1 February 1678 at The Hague, The NetherlandsG.3 He married, secondly, Jane Martha Temple, daughter of Sir John Temple and Jane Yarner, on 12 May 1700 at Chiswick, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 23 November 1709 at age 60 at Bulstrode, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1,4

     Jane Martha Temple was born in 1672.1 She was the daughter of Sir John Temple and Jane Yarner.1 She married, firstly, Admiral John Berkeley, 3rd Baron Berkeley of Stratton, son of John Berkeley, 1st Baron Berkeley of Stratton and Christiana Riccard, on 8 March 1691/92.1 She married, secondly, Hans William Bentinck, 1st Earl of Portland, son of Bernard Bentinck, Baron Bentinck and Anne van Bloemendale, on 12 May 1700 at Chiswick, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 26 June 1751 at Whitehall, London, EnglandG.1 She was buried at Mortlake, Surrey, EnglandG.2 Her will was proven (by probate) on 20 July 1751.2
     From 8 March 1691/92, her married name became Berkeley.1 After her marriage, Jane Martha Temple was styled as Baroness Berkeley of Stratton on 8 March 1691/92. After her marriage, Jane Martha Temple was styled as Dowager Lady Berkeley of Stratton on 27 February 1696/97. From 12 May 1700, her married name became Bentinck. After her marriage, Jane Martha Temple was styled as Countess of Portland on 12 May 1700. She was governess to the daughters of King George II in April 1718.1 She was governess to the daughters of King George II in January 1737.1 She was governess to the daughters of King George II in June 1738.1 Her last will was dated 23 February 1750.

     William Bentinck, 1st Graf Bentinck was born on 6 November 1704.2 He was the son of Hans William Bentinck, 1st Earl of Portland and Jane Martha Temple.2 He married Charlotte Sophie Gräfin von Aldenburg, daughter of Anton II Graf von Aldenburg and Wilhelmine Marie Prinzessin von Hessen-Homburg, on 1 June 1733.2 He died on 13 October 1774 at age 69.2
