     James Gow Dewar was born on 9 August 1852.1 He was the son of John Dewar and Jane Gow. He married Helen Mowat Wilson, daughter of George Wilson, on 16 September 1898.1 He died on 12 May 1922 at age 69.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Gloucestershire.1

     John Alexander Dewar, 1st Baron Forteviot was born on 6 June 1856.1 He was the son of John Dewar and Jane Gow.1 He married, firstly, Johann Todd, daughter of William Todd, on 24 June 1884.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Elizabeth Holland, daughter of Henry Holland and Wilhelmina Margarita Nixon, on 22 March 1905 at Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire, Scotland.1,2 He died on 23 November 1929 at age 73.1
     He held the office of Lord Provost of Perth between 1893 and 1899.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Inverness-shire between 1900 and 1917.1 He was chairman of John Dewar & Sons.1 He was created 1st Baronet Dewar, of Dupplin, co. Perth [U.K.] on 24 July 1907.1 He was created 1st Baron Forteviot, of Dupplin, co. Perth [U.K.] on 4 January 1917.1
