     He was educated at Archbishop Holgate's Grammar School, Barnsley, Yorkshire, England.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of the West Riding, Yorkshire in 1943.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1943.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire in 1947.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bradford North between 1950 and 1964.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1951.¹ He held the office of Parliament Secretary to Minister of Supply between 1957 and 1959.¹ He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Air Ministry between 1959 and 1962.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Taylor, of Cawthorne, in the West Riding of Yorkshire [U.K.] on 26 January 1963.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Hallamshire in 1968.¹ He was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.)¹ On his death his baronetcy became extinct.²

     Diana (?) married Colonel John Roger Cordy-Simpson, son of Major Roger Cordy-Simpson and Finovola Marianne Eleanor Maclean.¹
     Her married name became Cordy-Simpson.¹
