     Frederick Waller Ferrier Noel-Paton was born on 7 November 1861.1 He was the son of Sir Joseph Noel-Paton and Margaret Gourlay Ferrier.1 He married Ethel Margaret Alt, daughter of Colonel William John Alt, on 27 January 1895.1 He died on 1 July 1914 at age 52.1
     He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was Secretary of Bombay Chamber of Commerce.1 He was Director-General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics, Government of India.1

     Sir Joseph Noel-Paton was born on 13 December 1821.1 He was the son of Joseph Neil Paton and Catherine McDiarmid.1 He married Margaret Gourlay Ferrier, daughter of Alexander Ferrier, on 17 June 1858.1 He died on 26 December 1901 at age 80.1
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Edinburgh.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1897.1 He held the office of H.M. Limmer for Scotland.1 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries, Scotland (F.S.A.Scot.)1
