James Spencer Neill Hopwood, 2nd Baron Southborough1

     James Spencer Neill Hopwood, 2nd Baron Southborough was born on 17 January 1889.1 He was the son of Francis John Stephens Hopwood, 1st Baron Southborough and Alice Smith-Neill.1 He married Dorothy Stewart Leslie, daughter of Lt.-Col. Archibald Young Leslie, 14th of Kinivie, on 29 October 1923.1 He died on 25 February 1960 at age 71, without issue.2
     He was educated at Tonbridge School, Tonbridge, Kent, England.1 He was educated at St. John's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1915 in the 9th Battalion, Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War between 1915 and 1916.1 He was with War Trade, Intelligence Department of the Foreign Office and the War Trade Department between 1916 and 1917.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Southborough, 2nd Baron Southborough [U.K., 1917] on 17 January 1947.1

Alice Smith-Neill1

     Alice Smith-Neill was the daughter of Captain William James Smith-Neill.1 She married Francis John Stephens Hopwood, 1st Baron Southborough, son of James Thomas Hopwood and Anne Ellen Stone, on 6 July 1885.1 She died in March 1889.1
     From 6 July 1885, her married name became Hopwood.1

Florence Emily Black1

     Florence Emily Black was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sam Black.1 She married Francis John Stephens Hopwood, 1st Baron Southborough, son of James Thomas Hopwood and Anne Ellen Stone, on 28 September 1892.1 She died on 8 June 1940.1
     From 28 September 1892, her married name became Hopwood.1 After her marriage, Florence Emily Black was styled as Baroness Southborough on 1 November 1917.

     Brigadier Alfred Henry Hopwood was born on 16 April 1882.1 He was the son of Reverend Walter William Hopwood and Mary Elizabeth Rowland.1 He married Hon. Gladys Mary Neill Hopwood, daughter of Francis John Stephens Hopwood, 1st Baron Southborough and Alice Smith-Neill, on 9 January 1911.1 He died on 25 October 1956 at age 74.1
     He was educated at Trinity College, Glenalmond, Perthshire, Scotland.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902.1 He fought in the Somaliland Campaign between 1908 and 1910.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches four times.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917 and bar.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Lincolnshire Regiment.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1938.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1
