Sir Henry Michael Hawley, 5th Bt. was born on 25 March 1848.2 He was the son of Reverend Henry Charles Hawley and Mary Elizabeth Cusack-Smith.2 He married Frances Charlotte Wingfield-Stratford, daughter of John Wingfield-Stratford and Jane Elizabeth Guise, on 24 November 1875.2 He died on 2 July 1909 at age 61.2
He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Hawley, of Leybourne Grange, co. Kent [G.B., 1795] on 5 October 1898.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lincolnshire.2
