He succeeded as the Duc de Montmorency in 1614. He fought in the French Civil War in 1625.1 He held the office of Maréchal de France in 1630.1 He fought in the Battle of Avigliana in 1630.1 He fought in the Battle of Castelnaudary on 1 September 1632, where he was defeatd and captured.1

Sara Herries was the daughter of Captain unknown Herries.1 She married Reverend Joseph Aldrich Cotton in 1795.1 She died in 1844.1
She was found on the doorstep of her spinster aunts with a note to say she was the daughter of their brother Capt Harries. She was then adopted by her aunts and inherited their fortune.1 From 1795, her married name became Cotton.1
