     Francis Quarles was baptised on 8 May 1592.1 He was the son of James Quarles and Joanne Dalton.1 He married Ursula Woodgate on 28 May 1618 at London, England.1
     He graduated from Christ's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1608 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Lincolns Inn in 1610.1 He was cupbearer to Archbishop Ussher in 1630 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He wrote the book Emblems, published 1635.1 He was Chronicler of London between 1639 and 1644.1
