Hon. David William Penrose Thomas was born on 17 January 1959.1 He is the son of David Churchill Thomas and Susan Petronella Arrow, Baroness Thomas of Walliswood.1 He married Clare Jeremy, daughter of John Jeremy, on 28 June 1986.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from King's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was editor of The Magazine between 1984 and 1985.1 He co-authored the book Bilko: the Fort Baxter Story, published 1985.1 He wrote the book Sex and Shopping, published 1988.1 He wrote the book Fame and Fortune, published 1988.1 He was editor of Punch between 1989 and 1992.1 He wrote the book Great Sporting Moments, published 1990.1 He wrote the book Not Guilty: in defence of the modern man, published 1993.1
