     He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)¹ He was educated at Gloucester School, Gloucestershire, England.³ He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.³ He held the office of Bishop of Western Australia between 1857 and 1875.³ He held the office of Bishop of Brisbane between 1875 and 1885.¹

     Esther Wells was the daughter of John Wells.¹ She married John Denis Browne, son of Rt. Hon. Denis Browne and Anne Mahon, on 25 August 1832.¹ She died circa 1883.¹
