     Brigadier Sir Edgar Trevor Williams was born on 20 November 1912 at Kent, England.^1,3 He married Monica Robertson in 1938.³ He and Monica Robertson were divorced in 1945.³ He married Gilian Gambier-Parry, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Michael Denman Gambier-Parry and Barbara Evelyn Tufnell, in 1946.¹ He died on 26 June 1995 at age 82 at Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.^1,3
     He was educated at Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.³ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1943.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1944.¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier between 1944 and 1945 in the General Staff, 21st Army Group.³ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1946.¹ He edited the book Dictionary of National Biography, published between 1949 and 1980.³ He was appointed Knight in 1973.³
