Sir John Rous, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir John Rous, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Knyvett. He married, firstly, Philippa Bedingfeld, daughter of Thomas Bedingfeld and Hannah Bacon, in 1676.1 He married, secondly, Anne Wood, daughter of Robert Wood, on 8 September 1686.1 He died on 8 April 1730.1
He was educated at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Rous, of Henham Hall [E., 1660] on 27 November 1670.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1678.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Eye between 1685 and 1687.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Suffolk from 1689 to 1690.1
