     Brig.-Gen. William Goodday Strutt was baptised on 26 February 1762.1 He was the son of John Strutt and Anne Goodday.1 He died on 5 February 1848 at age 85.1
     He was commissioned in 1778 with the rank of officer, in the service of the 61st Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 91st Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1782 in the 97th Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 60th Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 54th Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General circa 1796.1 He was Deputy-Governor of Stirling Castle in 1796.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1798.1 He held the office of Governor of Quebec in 1800.1
