     He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 20 December 1865 in the Royal Navy.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 5 August 1868 in the Royal Navy.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in June 1870 in the Royal Navy.¹

     Clara Harriet Pease was born in 1852 at Hungerford, Berkshire, England.¹ She married Reverend Arthur Trosse Fortescue, son of William Blundell Fortescue and Harriett Maria Taylor, in 1894 at Newark, Nottinghamshire, England.¹ She died in 1926 at Brentford, London, England.¹

     Charlotte Branfill was the daughter of Champion Branfill.¹ She married John Harrison, son of Benjamin Harrison and Sarah Deane, on 28 July 1747.¹ She died on 24 January 1797.¹

     Mary Harrison was born on 6 May 1750.¹ She was the daughter of John Harrison and Charlotte Branfill.¹ She married Peter Berthon on 3 February 1770.¹ She died on 25 July 1822 at age 72.¹
     From 3 February 1770, her married name became Berthon.¹ She was an original shareholder in Sun Life Assurance Company in 1810.¹ He had four sons and six daughters.¹
