     Sir John Houstoun of Houstoun was the son of Sir Patrick Houstoun of Houstoun and Janet Cuninghame.¹ He married Agnes Hoppringle, daughter of Alexander Hoppringle of Torsance and of that Ilk.¹ He died in 1542.¹

     Sir Patrick Houstoun of Houstoun was the son of Sir Peter Houstoun of that Ilk and Helen Shaw.¹ He married Janet Cuninghame, daughter of William Cuninghame, 1st of Craigends and Elizabeth Stewart.¹ He died in 1526.¹

     Agnes Hoppringle is the daughter of Alexander Hoppringle of Torsance and of that Ilk.¹ She married Sir John Houstoun of Houstoun, son of Sir Patrick Houstoun of Houstoun and Janet Cuninghame.¹
     Her married name became Houstoun.¹

     F. L. Boteler lived at West Derby, Lancashire, England.¹

     John Ward was born on 13 February 1827 at Norfolk, England.² He was the son of Reverend Philip Ward and Horatia Nelson.¹ He died in 1829 at Norfolk, England.²

     Henry Blanckley was born in 1820.¹ He was the son of Captain Edward Blanckley and Harriet Matcham.¹ He died in 1854.¹

     Sir Peter Houstoun of that Ilk was the son of Sir John Houstoun of that Ilk and Elizabeth Sinclair.¹ He married Helen Shaw, daughter of James Shaw of Sauchie.¹ He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England.¹
     He fought in the Battle of Flodden Field on 9 September 1513.¹
