Sir Edward Leigh was born on 24 March 1602.2 He was the son of Sir Henry Leigh and Ruth Hampden.2 He married Elizabeth Talbot, daughter of Thomas Talbot and Catherine Paston, in 1628.1 He died on 2 June 1671 at age 69.1
He was admitted to Middle Temple entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He wrote the book The Treatise on Divine Promises.2 He graduated from Magdalen Hall, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1623 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Staffordshire between 1645 and 1648.2 He purchased Iver, Buckinghamshire in 1648.2
