John Loftus, 2nd Marquess of Ely was born on 15 February 1770.1 He was the son of Charles Loftus, 1st Marquess of Ely and Jane Myhill.2 He married Anna Maria Dashwood, daughter of Sir Henry Watkin Dashwood, 3rd Bt. and Mary Helen Graham, in 1810.1 He died on 26 September 1845 at age 75.1
He was given the name of John Tottenham at birth.1 In 1783 his name was legally changed to John Loftus.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1800.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Loftus of Loftus Hall, co.
