     Norman Egerton Young was born on 27 February 1892.1 He was the son of Sir William Mackworth Young and Frances Mary Egerton.2 He died on 30 June 1965 at age 73, presumed drowned off the coast of Mozambique.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Captain in the Royal Sussex Regiment.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1919.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1919 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was with the Treasury in 1919.1 He was Assistant Finance Secretary, Sudan between 1929 and 1931.1 He was Finance Advisor, British Embassy Paris between 1939 and 1940.1 He was British Government Director of the Suez Canal Company between 1939 and 1945.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1946.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1951 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Comptroller of the General National Debt Office between 1951 and 1954.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1953.1
