Ada Byng Whitmore was born on 9 January 1838.1 She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Mortimer Robert Sandys Whitmore and Cecilia Hall Byng.2

Lt.-Gen. Francis Locker Whitmore was born on 31 July 1814.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Sir George Whitmore and Cordelia Ainslie.2 He married Eliza Ledsam, daughter of John Ledsam, on 18 January 1848.1 He died on 23 December 1894 at age 80.1
He was commissioned in 1835 with the rank of officer, in the service of the 1st Foot (Royal Scots.)1 He fought in the Crimean War.1 He was First Commandant between 1857 and 1880 at Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, Twickenham, London, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General.1

Eliza Ledsam is the daughter of John Ledsam.2 She married Lt.-Gen. Francis Locker Whitmore, son of Maj.-Gen. Sir George Whitmore and Cordelia Ainslie, on 18 January 1848.1
