Margaret Wharton was born in July 1581.1 She was the daughter of Philip Wharton, 3rd Baron Wharton and Lady Frances Clifford.2 She married Edward Wotton, 1st Baron Wotton of Marley, son of Thomas Wotton and Elizabeth Rudston, in September 1603.1 She died on 10 March 1658/59 at age 77, without surviving issue.1
     From September 1603, her married name became Wotton.1
