     William Cowper lived at Hertingfordbury Park, Hertford, Hertfordshire, England.¹

     Mary Cowper was the daughter of William Cowper.² She married Sir William de Grey, 1st Baron Walsingham, son of Thomas de Grey and Elizabeth Windham, on 12 November 1743.¹ She died on 2 September 1800.¹

     Maj.-Gen. John Boyd Saunders was born on 1 September 1830.¹ He was the son of John James Saunders and Isabella Susanna Boyd.¹ He was baptised on 16 October 1830 at Bromley, Kent, England.¹ He married Lilly Glendining, daughter of Alexander Glendining, on 12 February 1852 at Sevenoaks, Kent, England.¹ He died on 7 February 1889 at age 58 at Hoxton, London, England.¹

     Lilly Glendining was born circa 1828 at Manchester, Lancashire, England.¹ She was the daughter of Alexander Glendining.¹ She married Maj.-Gen. John Boyd Saunders, son of John James Saunders and Isabella Susanna Boyd, on 12 February 1852 at Sevenoaks, Kent, England.¹ She died in 1898.¹
     From 12 February 1852, her married name became Saunders.¹
