John Edulphus Swinton, 31st of that Ilk was born on 9 April 1832.1 He is the son of Robert Hepburn Swinton of that Ilk and Julia Harker.2 He married Frances Jane Ainslie, daughter of Daniel Ainslie, on 10 September 1863.1 He died in May 1871 at age 39.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the Indian Army.1 He was Laird of Swinton Bank.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1

Captain Robert Hepburne Swinton was born in 1835.1 He was the son of Robert Hepburn Swinton of that Ilk and Julia Harker.2 He married, firstly, Eliza Hunter, daughter of James Hunter of Hafton, in 1859.1 He married, secondly, Caroline Jane Ross Kendall, daughter of Henry Kendall and Eliza Ann Jackson, on 14 January 1869.1 He married, thirdly, Alexa Hugh Munro Campbell, daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert Nutter Campbell of Ormidale, on 14 November 1872.1 He died on 31 December 1900.1
