Gerald Constantine Strickland was born on 5 June 1888.1 He was the son of Walter Richard Strickland and Julia Maud Jenkyns.2 He married, firstly, Mary Hampton, daughter of John Hampton, in March 1910.1 He and Mary Hampton were divorced in 1921.1 He married, secondly, Magdalene Hunten, daughter of Peter Hunten, on 1 March 1922.1 He died in 1962.1
He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.1 He was awarded the Military Medal (M.M.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 3rd South African Infantry.1
