Marion Louisa Johnson was the daughter of Reverend H. W. Johnson.2 She married Francis Henry Stirling, son of Thomas Mayne Stirling, 3rd of Muiravonside and Anna Stirling, in 1898.1 She died on 31 May 1931.1

Sir Charles Norman Stirling was born on 19 November 1901.1 He is the son of Francis Henry Stirling and Marion Louisa Johnson.2 He married Ann Moore, daughter of J H Moore, on 14 November 1950.1
He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.1 He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1925 and 1961.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1941.1 He was Counsellor to Lisbon between 1946 and 1949.1 He was Consul-General to Tangier between 1949 and 1951.1 He held the office of Ambassador to Chile between 1951 and 1954.1 He held the office of Ambassador to Czechoslovakia between 1954 and 1960.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1955.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1957.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 23 August 1958.1 He lived at Borovere, Alton, Hampshire, England.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1965 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1
