     He was given the name of Edward Smith at birth.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Smith, of Newland Park and Thornton Watlass, co. York [G.B., 1784] on 15 June 1789.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 105th Foot.¹ In 1821 his name was legally changed to Edward Dodsworth by Royal Licence.¹

     Henry Dawkins was born in 1698.¹ He was the son of Colonel Richard Dawkins and Elizabeth (?)¹ He married Elizabeth Pennant, daughter of Edward Pennant, on 26 May 1719.¹ He died in 1744.¹

     Susannah Dawkins was the daughter of Colonel Henry Dawkins and Lady Juliana Colyear.^2,3 She married Sir Edward Dodsworth, 2nd Bt., son of Sir John Silvester Smith, 1st Bt. and Henrietta Maria Dodsworth, on 22 September 1804.¹ She died on 13 March 1830.¹
     From 22 September 1804, her married name became Smith. From 1821, her married name became Dodsworth.
