     Alexander Shaw of Tordarroch, 10th Chief of Clan Ay was born in 1737.¹ He was the son of Aeneas Shaw of Tordarroch, 9th Chief of Clan Ay and Isabel Dallas.² He married, firstly, Charlotte Stewart, daughter of Reverend John Stewart and Anne Mackenzie.¹ He married, secondly, Anne Elizabeth Blanckley, daughter of Major Henry Staniforth Blanckley.² He died on 30 May 1811 at Bath, Somerset, England.²
     He held the position of 10th Chief of the Clan Ay from.¹ He held the position of 15th Chief of the Clan Shaw from.² He fought in the Seven Years War between 1754 and 1760.¹ He gained the rank of officer in 1756 in the Royal American Regiment of Foot.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to General Provost.¹ He fought in the Capture of Quebec in 1759, where he was severely wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Adjutant in 1776 in the 4th Battalion.¹ He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of the Isle of Man between 1790 and 1804.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1794 in the Manx Fencibles.¹ He sold Wester Leys.¹

     Aeneas Shaw was born in 1739/40.¹ He was the son of Aeneas Shaw of Tordarroch, 9th Chief of Clan Ay and Isabel Dallas.² He married Anne Goslin in 1783.¹ He died on 6 February 1814.¹
     He gained the rank of Ensign in 1784 in the 39th Foot Regiment (later Dorsetshire Regiment.)¹ He fought in the American War of Independence.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1787.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1791 in the Queen's Rangers.¹ He gained the rank of Major in 1794 in the Simcoe's Corps.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1797 in the Queen's Rangers.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in 1808.¹ He rejoined the Rangers and sent to build Toronto.¹ He gained the rank of Adjutant-General in 1811 in the Canadian Militia.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General in 1811.¹ He held the office of Member, Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [Upper Canada] in 1813.¹ He had five sons (all army officers) and five daughters.¹

     Anne Goslin married Aeneas Shaw, son of Aeneas Shaw of Tordarroch, 9th Chief of Clan Ay and Isabel Dallas, in 1783.¹
     She lived at New York, U.S.A.¹ From 1783, her married name became Shaw.
