Sir John Reade, 1st Bt. was born circa 1616.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Reade and Mary Brocket.2 He married, firstly, Susanna Style, daughter of Sir Thomas Style, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Foulkes, on 2 January 1640.1 He married, secondly, Alissimon (?) on 15 January 1662/63.1 He died circa 3 February 1693/94.3 He was buried on 6 February 1693/94.1
He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn.1 He was appointed Knight in 1641/42.1 He was created 1st Baronet Reade, of Brockett Hall, co. Herts [England] on 16 March 1641/42, and again by Oliver Cromwell on 25 June 1656.3 He held the office of Sheriff of Hertfordshire from 1655 to 1656.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Hertfordshire from 1673 to 1674.1 He purchased the Calthorp estate, Oxfordshire in 1679.1
